Before you vote on January 31, you need to see these videos!
In next week’s Presidential Primary, you will also have a chance to vote for the next Mayor of Fort Lauderdale. As a Candidate for Mayor, I want you to know about the REAL issues affecting our City.
- Most of our problems stem from lack of leadership from our current Mayor in controlling costs. In eight years, our budget has almost doubled! Go to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC5UlPOWTVE to see how “out of whack” our budget has become. We have a spending addiction that is currently unsustainable!
- Over the last three years, career politician Jack Seiler has failed miserably at his job. This video outlines the “Top Ten Failures of Jack Seiler”. Go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlpfQGeQZTQ to see for yourself how poorly he has performed!
You’ll see in these videos that I am not a professional speaker (or a career politician), but I am passionate about our City and want you to know what is REALLY going on.
3. In the last video (sent by one of our readers) it shows the continuing homeless problem here in Fort Lauderdale. Again, a lack of leadership at the top has caused this problem to get worse over the last three years. Go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZoLh2Ff6ng to see this video.
And if you haven’t visited my web site yet, I would encourage you to do so. Go to: www.RynersonForMayor.com . There you will be able to read the over 225 articles I have written about Fort Lauderdale (including many solutions that we need to implement), see my 20-chapter “Vision for Fort Lauderdale” along with my 12-Month “Action Plan” for getting our City back on track.
And please remember to vote next Tuesday, January 31!
Thank you!
Earl Rynerson
Candidate for Mayor of Fort Lauderdale

Mr. Rynerson, I take offense to a comment you made last night in reference to Police Officers during hurricanes. You stated that Officers who live outside the City may not be able to respond. You further said that during the storm we are at home securing our families. Well this could not be further from the truth. Actually I have been a Fort Lauderdale Police Officer for over 23 years. During this time there have been numerous storms that have struck out area. During each of these storms I have been in the City protecting the residents while I left my family at home. In fact during Hurricane Andrew, as I watched the storm go over from my police car, my wife and newborn child were home alone. Your continued disrespect for the Officers is to say the least unbecoming anyone who wants to serve as Mayor.
To whomever sent me this email:
I wish you would put your name to this comment. I am sorry that you take offense, but what I say is the truth. When Katrina hit New Orleans, most of their emergency staff (Police and Fire) did not show up for work because they were not residents of New Orleans and were busy protecting their own homes (outside of New Orleans). That’s a safety issue that we cannot allow to happen here.
When over 80% of our Police and Fire personnel do not live in Fort Lauderdale, it represents a danger if/when we have a City-wide disaster. A similar hurricane could cause a similar problem here. (Whatever you did or did not do during Hurricane Andrew 20 years ago is really not the issue here.)
I am pointing out a danger. We need to get more police officers and fire personnel to move back here to Fort Lauderdale. That will insure better “community policing” when we don’t have an emergency, and insure we have adequate emergency protection when we do have an emergency.
Our current “drive-by” policy of policing most neighborhoods is simply not working.
